TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) for Liver CystLiver cyst is a round punch filled with fluid. It doesn’t need treatment unless symptoms occur. Even though it is benign in most cases, it can signal the presence of an underlying problem. TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) can help you slow down or prevent the progression of liver cysts.

► Causes

Liver cyst is always accompanied with Polycystic Kidney Disease which is characterized by a cluster of cysts on the kidneys. Liver cyst is one of the common complication of PKD.

Liver cyst can be also associated with parasitic infection.

► Symptoms

Normally, liver cyst cause no symptoms unless it grows to a large size. In that case, patients may experience stomach bloating or abdominal pain. Only about one out of every 10 people with PLD has problems associated with it.

Other complications may include:

- Bleeding into a cyst

- Infection of a cyst

- Bile duct obstruction and jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes)

► Herbs for liver cyst

♦ Milk Thistle

his herb contains active compounds called silymarin and silybin, both of which demonstrate antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic properties. It means they protect the liver by blocking toxin-binding receptor sites in the cells of the organ’s outer membrane.

♦ Dandelion

Dandelion is known as a good diuretic, so it is used to accelerate the discharge of cystic fluid. Besides, it can significantly decrease the activity of certain enzymes responsible for producing inflammation and liver lesions.

♦ Artichoke

Artichoke leaves and roots contain compounds that stimulate bile flow and reduce fat concentration.artichoke protects endothelium cells by suppressing the formation of reactive toxins that occur as byproducts of normal metabolism. Do not take artichoke extract without medical supervision if you have a history of gallstones or a bile duct blockage.

♦ Green Tea

The key to reducing liver cysts is to prevent the abnormal growth of epithelial cells by suppressing vascular endothelial growth factor. Green tea can help you on this point.
